This exhibit focuses on the medium of photography. Photography is the art of creating images by recording light. This popular medium has many standouts since its creation in the 1800’s; including Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, and Robert Mapplethorpe. Photorealism is a genre where a detailed visual representation, like that obtained in a photograph, is created in a non-photographic medium; examples include the work of such artists as Robert Bechtle, Chuck Close, and Richard Estes.
For this exhibition we are juxtaposing the medium of photography with the genre of photorealism. This pairing is sure prompt a closer look. Join us at the opening Reception on January 12th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
