Dinner Theatre | Jack Tales - event ticket

Theatre | February 23

Tamarack’s Governor Hulett C. Smith Theater presents our first Dinner Theatre performance for 2018, The Jack Tales by R. Rex Stephenson. Appalachian stories and music, by Colleen Anderson, are at the heart of the upcoming production performed by the Concord University Theatre Department. Jack Tales are traditional mountain stories brought to Appalachia from the Old World. There are hundreds of old stories where Jack is the hero. This comical play brings five of these stories to life. They rejoice in and celebrate the uniqueness of the Appalachian culture.

  •  Sunny Side up Wilted Salad (Jack Fear No Man)
  • Brown Sugar Mustard Glaze Baked Ham, Turnip Greens & Black Eyed Peas (Jack & Ol’ Greasy Beard)

Live at Tamarack | Ben Casto

Music | April 8

Ben Casto | 11:00 AM

Dine in Tamarack's Taste of West Virginia Restaurant and enjoy the sounds of Ben Casto on the fiddle. Ben describes his musical style as 'Appalachian traditional music, with Scottish and Irish influences. This performance will begin at 11:00 AM

Ben Casto grew up in the small town of Fayetteville, WV. Inspired by a friend, he began taking violin lessons at the age of five. Along the way he discovered a love of traditional music, especially the Scottish and Irish traditional styles, which he was introduced to by his teacher. While a classically trained violinist, Ben’s real passion in music is the musical traditions of Scotland and Ireland, and of course, in Appalachian traditional music, which has strong roots in the Scottish and Irish traditions. In addition to the violin, Ben plays a little bit of a number of different string instruments, including the Mandolin, Guitar, Tenor Banjo, Bass, and Piano.

Ben still lives in Fayetteville, and enjoys going to jam sessions every week. He is currently the Showroom Manager and Violin Instructor at the School of Harmony in Beaver, WV.
