This Fall, we’re embracing the haunting folklore of Appalachia and illuminating the stories told around the hearth with our latest gallery exhibition, Simple Folk. Artists were tasked with creating pieces that embody the spirit of storytelling, homing in on whispers of the supernatural and reflecting on the traditions and legends that represent West Virginia and Appalachia as a whole. In the Simple Folk exhibition, one may find sculptures of the cryptids that call our mountains their home, illustrations of leafless trees that hold more secrets than it seems, and brushstrokes that form more traditional Halloween figures like witches, monsters and ghostly apparitions. Halloween is right around the corner, and with that comes the return of our annual Spooktacular Trick or Treat! This year, join us on October 24th between 4 and 6 PM for an indoor trick or treat throughout our circular building! Local businesses will be set up, each with a different table for our trick or treaters to visit and collect their candy as they make their way around the building!
