In 2006, McArts of Kimball, West Virginia, began a new venture - Coal Camp Creations. Believing in the dream of economic development through the arts, they are producing original sculpture, then molding it as a resin-coal dust mixture to create a special kind of coal figurine focused on authentic coal mining themes. Mac Dowell is the first of their creations. Sculpted by artist Dina Brown, the largest of the figures is part of a limited edition series of 100. Author and playwright Jean Battlo has written the story of Mac Dowell who represents every miner that worked in the southern coalfields of West Virginia in the first part of the last century. Mac Dowell is the father, grandfather and great grandfather of many West Virginians. Great detail. Wood base. This is a very special commemorative piece!
