An Edge of the Forest

An Edge of the Forest is a fantasy centered on a black lamb driven by an untrained sheep dog away from her flock and to the edge of a forest, where the lamb's life is saved by a black leopardess.  Protected by the leopardess, a white owl, a herd of deer, and othe inhabitants of the forest, the lamb lives for a while in their wilderness, before returning to the shepherd's pastures.  The shepherd and his family are part of the story's background, rather than an element of the narrative.  Written by Agnes Smith and illustrated by Jan Sharkey Thomas.  202 pages.
